Kabacan Central UMC Celebrates Ecumenical Sunday

The Kabacan Central United Methodist Church, a vital congregation considered as one of the flagship churches of the Mindanao Philippines Annual Conference celebrated Ecumenical Sunday last January 19, 2020.

The church with more than 300 members and under the leadership of its Administrative Pastor, Rev. Mercedita R. Antipolo, tasked one of the Young Adult Lay Leaders and the present Ecumenical Relations Officer of the Church Chona Bringas-Panaguiton to be the keynote address speaker.

Chona Bringas-Panaguiton is also a member of second cohort of the UMEIT: YAN chosen by the UMC Council of Bishops wherein they are trained through webinars in terms of Interreligious Ministries and Ecumenism. She was also one of the six scholars of the UMC Council of Bishops who attended the 7th Parliament of the World's Religions in Toronto, Canada last November 1-7, 2018.

She talked about the purpose and importance of ecumenism and shared her learnings she gained from her trainings. Through her message she encouraged and challenged the KCUMC Congregation to continue doing ministries together with brothers and sisters from other church denominations and not to focus on the things that divides people but rather use it as a source for greater ministries.

She ended her message by singing the song entitled “We Are One in the Spirit”

We Are One With The Spirit

We are one with the Spirit we are one in the Lord

We are one with the Spirit we are one in the Lord

And we pray that our unity will one day be restored

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love

We will work with each other, we will work side by side

We will work with each other, we will work side by side

And we'll guard each man's dignity and save each man's pride

And they'll know we are Christians by our love, by our love

Yes they'll know we are Christians by our love
