2021 Western Pennsylvania Annual Conference
While the COVID-19 vaccination rate in Western PA is increasing, the CDC has indicated that larger groups may safely gather and occupancy limits in Pennsylvania may be lifted at the end of May, the situation remains fluid and the June 18-19 session will go on as planned as a hybrid event with limited in-person attendance.
The Annual Conference will officially begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 18 with the Ordination and Commissioning Service. Based on occupancy limits, each of those being ordained or commissioned may invite guests, with the number of guests to be determined.
On Saturday, June 19, the day will begin with Bible Study, followed by the State of the Church Address and motions on the legislation listed below. Families of members who have passed away over the last two years have been invited to attend the 11:30 a.m. Memorial Service, with Bishop Moore-Koikoi preaching. The number of family members also will be determined at a later date.
Members of the Annual Conference will be asked to vote on the following legislation:
- A motion to suspend the Conference rules requiring in-person voting
- The Budget for 2022, which was discussed during District Conferences (RS 401, beginning on p. 408 of the legislation packet linked from the blue button below).
- A slate of nominees for Conference boards and committees (to be posted June 1).
- Items related to the merger of the United Methodist Stewardship Foundation of the Susquehanna Conference into the United Methodist Foundation of Western PA. (RS707, 708 & 709, beginning on page 448 of the legislation packet).
Voting members will receive an email with links to the online ballot or a PDF form to print and mail by June 30, 2021. After receiving the links, ballots may be cast at any time.
Items not voted on by members will be handled by the Connectional Leadership Table, as they have in the past year.
